Dave Collins

Dave Collins

Dave Collins has been playing music since the 4th grade when he took up the trumpet. "I wanted to sound like Al Hirt because I heard he was the best trumpet player around. I actually had no idea what he sounded like!"

The reality of high school band paled in comparison to the 70's blues and jazz revival, so he switched to guitar at age 17 and hasn't looked back. He followed his love of music to college, graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1981.

After many years of gigging around the Boston area, Dave got into teaching, and later software development ("the greatest day job ever"), and has been in Southern Maine since 1986. His musical adventures have included directing two church choirs, writing and arranging everything from string quartets to choral arrangements to folk songs, and "never forgetting I'm a musician."

"Bluezberry Jam has been a fun project," says Dave. "We cover a lot of ground musically and have a great time. We have more fun than we should probably be allowed."
